I'd Rather be Fat Than Famous

I’d rather be fat than famous, ain’t in my blood to be thin! Fat as Jake and that’s ok. I’ll take epic flavors on my lunch today. Got kicked outta the house fer dieting too much "there’s something to it, you been seein’ someone?" I’d rather be fat than famous and I am! Stream that on your youtube page!   Mark Wilson (based on "I’d Rather be Thin than Famous" by Jack Kerouac, see below)           I’d rather be thin than famous,
I don’t wanna be fat.
And a woman throws me outta bed, callin me Gordo,
and every time I bend to pickup my suspenders from the davenport floor
I explode loud, huge grunt-o and disgust everyone in the familio.
I’d rather be thin than famous,
but I’m fat.
Paste that in your Broadway show.

a

courageous, entertaining poem. the pressure the media exerts day in and day out for people to be thin verges on an attempt at brainwashing, in my opinion. though i don't think encouraging people to be obese in the name of freedom is a healthy idea, i'd rather do that then discourage it and have young girls puking up the cracker they ate that morning and then dying. your poem is natural, unfettered and wrote with a true joy. though i see the differences bwetween yours and kerouac's, i think you paid it a nice tribute. good job!
