My First Venture into the Style of Haiku

      Predawn—tea, hot;

growing

      towards cold.

      Spider, watchful,

has all eyes staying

      glued.

      Haiku master

fondling

      sweet mistress—haiku.

      Mozart

drawing me well

      inward.

      Backyard blue jays chatting—

what about is

      not one knowing.

      Single empty teacup—

guarding delicately

      green saucer.

      Last haiku—

tonight quitting now;

      sleep beginning.

      First time

venturing—

      haiku.

      Preferring comments

agreeably

      encouraging.

I Speak as a Beginner Here

I've only witnessed a few examples of haiku, enough to get me started. I'm sure there's a whole world out there I haven't noticed before. I'll keep on looking. In the meantime ... I'll post a couple (few?) more at Neopoet this morning---and see how they look. Thanx, Chuck
