Chummy Fleas

Tillamook the county,

In good God’s green Oregon,

Without a niggling doubt

Holds her gloried bounty

Of golden yellow cheese,

Of lavish forest trees …

Of Pacific Ocean’s gentle breeze

Engaged in winded poetry;

Except let’s just right now

Here not leave too far out

Her way-too-chummy

Creeping crawling bedtime fleas.

Ick!

This just made me SMILE! - This morning I woke up to a beautiful early autumn golden day, sun streaming thru my windows, cats sleeping sweetly nestled in the curve of my body, and all was just so freakin' LOVELY -- until I looked at the ceiling! I Should Confess, Altho I Don't Know Why

When I was a small child living in Tillamook County (on a farm just five miles out of Hebo up Three Rivers) and forced by unyielding (unfeeling?) parents to attend Cloverdale's Presbyterian services on Sunday mornings, the very worst part of the experience was that the fleas always congregated on and in sensitive body parts and nooks that I was not allowed to scratch in church. I think it natural that I would recall such religious suffering with fondness. And sinfully glad I no longer countenance such torture. Thanx to all for your ongoing support, Chuck

I have seen flea waves ...

like sand storms black brown,a move-after-they-land-flea-storm I took back one of those battery powered flea away devices and used it like a wizard staff my friends then and there watching from a distance knew I was crazy. So thanks for the flight plan back to an odd memory Chuck. In Ink, David

A childhood memory recalled

I had the "Bennett Cerf Joke Book" when I was a small person, and this repartee has brought one of his little gems back to mind -- here 'tis: A flea and a fly in a flue were imprisoned, so what could they do? Said the fly, "let us flea!" Said the flea, "let us fly! so they flew through a flaw in the flue Reverend Bec Hudson Shine Your Light It's the ONLY Way to Get Rid of the Darkness!
