I Promise

I promise you my loyalty

I promise for you I’ll pray,

and I’ll remain right by your side

no matter, come what may.

I promise to be careful

when you trust me to hold your hand,

and should you prefer to walk alone

I promise to understand;

and should your soul get weary

and tired before journey’s end,

I’ll do my best to comfort you

and I promise to be your friend.

My promises aren’t empty

there as timeless as eternity,

the easy thing about it is

you’d do the same for me.

I’ve one final promise,

a promise sent from God above…

..I’ll cherish and I’ll treasure you,

for you taught me how to love.

my friend...

.....thank you for not thinking this work too syrupy, or something. I have more love poems that I've been leery of sharing, because I just "pretend" to have someone that I'm writing to. I think it's a good excercise, but to answer your question...no. There is no "better half" in my life. You might say that I'm getting prepared for her. :) Thanks again...and maybe you'll enjoy this next write that I've been working on. Doc
