Life

Life

Lost in the whirl wind of life

Drowning in a sea of emotions

Is this what we call life?

Is this what there  is to expect from the past, present and future?

The past, one starts out, innocent and untouched

With a whole universe of possibilities awaiting discovery

One is curious and reckless, inquiring and brave

But most of all one is happy and care free

The present, in the here and now

One is learning lessons, experiencing the highs and the lows

Very seldom realizing the path that will be chosen

Could lead to something that soon ends up broken

The future, alive with opportunity and joy

This is what is said to make the future a cheerful prospect

Little does one know or even begin to suspect

The future for some is a dark and unforgiving place

Life is what the individual makes of it, so it is said

Then answer this, why does the good person always finish last?

Kicked in the teeth by fate

And this individual gets up, tries to remember the past

This person dusts themselves off, and tries again

Is it worth it, this thing called life, destiny

Call it by whatever name you choose to

There are those moments how ever, that make it all worthwhile

Your first love, the new feelings

Butterflies in the tummy, the heart skipping a beat

That feeling of total belonging that strikes

The discovery of the meaning of love

Your first born child, that first cry

It grabs at your soul and your heart

And from the first moment of breath you are caught

Up in a life long, powerful and indescribable emotion

The emotion that comes with the entry to parenthood

So as difficult as it can get

As bleak as it sometimes does tend to look

There is a lot more to life, a lot more that is good

Search for the strength to prevail

Discover a wealth of patience, perseverance and resolve

It is ok to feel defeated; we all do at one time or another

Be you a woman or a man, father or mother

The trick to life, is to grab it by the ears

Look it deep in the eyes and imprint it in your mind

Hold on to it, do not let go

And you might be surprised at what you will find

This I can really relate to

The trick to life, is to grab it by the ears Look it deep in the eyes and imprint it in your mind Hold on to it, do not let go And you might be surprised at what you will find. I just love the idea of grabbing life by the ears! Made me smile! This is a great write - says a lot about you and your approach to life and shows a great deal of understanding and strength of character. Excellent - loved it! Kaz x
