Daughter’s of Eden

Daughter’s of Eden

Its there in their eyes

The sorrow, the loss and pain

For what do they have to gain from life?

These women, these daughters of Eden

Reflected in the depth of their eyes

One can see their silent, yet very present strength

This is to be their destiny, their fate

For these women, these daughters of Eden

They are there among us all, ever present

Ever there, they appear as mother, sister

Lover or friend, these women of the world

These daughters of Eden

They suffer abuse at your brutal hands

Hands that should treat them with respect

But what can these women expect?

These daughters of Eden

All they ask for is love

You instead give them lies and deceit

All they need is to feel a sense of belonging

To know these daughters of Eden

Is to see strength, dignity and forgiveness

To love them is to hold them close

To your hearts, do not abandon them

These women, these daughters of Eden

We, you and I my child

Are of these women I speak of

For within us, you and I my child

As women, as daughters of Eden

Lies the key to discovery

The way for us all to move forward

To conquer and finally claim what is rightfully ours

Our claim to stake as daughters of Eden.

The right to be loved, respected and cherished

For all of time as it was written

So all of you heed our words that we speak

We the daughters of Eden

Wow! this strikes me very weird and I love it!

Because biblically Eve was the one who tasted the fruit and got them the boot. What a hoot! Yes it was the daughters of Eden who gave humanity freedom of choice, if you believe in christian mythology. And they/you have copped the blame ever since. Oh, if there is any truth in christian mythology you gave humanity it's freedom and the blame is the blame of cowards who would rather bow down to dogma than accept personal responsibility! A very deep and powerful poem. LAP. I love this! cheers, Jess
