Finding innocence after adversity

Finding innocence after adversity

Though times are hard

you are always , full of smiles

on the memory of this i could walk for miles

you ever present with your young innocence

you believe in things not there

things that do not exist

yet why do we as grown ups

seem to constantly, endlessly resist

that force that pulls us back

to days gone by, filled with good times

how come memories of times past

seem to leave us edging away from them?

Is it because we can no longer see the purity

of who and what we all once were?

Is it because we have lost all clarity?

This having been misted through cynicism

clouded by new found abilities to judge

all but erased by the harshness of present reality?

As one grows we learn, life is not simple

yet some retain a certain elegance in the face of adversity

its these people that seem to carry on regardless

nothing seems to phase them

their happiness seem endless

and we, you and i can have this to

connect with the innocence within

find the lost child like soul

that within us hides away for none to see

for if we don’t we all before our time become to old
