Twilight, the end of love

Twilight, the end of love

At twilight i knew the true nature of failure

by morning this became an all to real feature

the cold feeling of drowning, being overwhelmed

by all the realizations that leave me eternally bound

at twilight i knew, that love had indeed died

slowly dissipated like the evening dew

only really, truly felt by so few

for the rest of us love is only a myth

at twilight i knew, that life would never be the same

and to myself i will point to blame

as why else did we seem to constantly fail

leaving all color looking dull and pale

by twilight i knew, that the light had faded

i knew that soon love would be jaded

nothing but a meaningless word to me

i would turn my back on it, love let me be

by Twilight i knew, i had lost you

i will lose myself eventually in everything i do

running, and eternally hiding from you, from love

from the very thing that opened me to emotion in the first place

By twilight i knew, for i heard the final slam of the door

i knew not to knock, for love resides here no more.

this poem nearly made me throw the boook at the wall!

Thank goodness I didn't smash my screen! Not do say it's bad, it is very good. It just aroused passions in me. I had to read, and re-read and re-read the second stanza before I realised its truth. It is not a myth, The violent reaction it provoked in me is that I am a true believer in real, romantic love, although I am incapable of it. Love is almost always a lust, comfort or compromise. But believing in it keeps me alive. Sorry this is a personal rant, and may well have missed the intent of your poem, but your poetry touched me in a deep raw place. As such, very, very good poetry. cheers, Jess
