Waiting

Now, When I look into your eyes I see a hollow soul

desperately seeking an escape from your pain

The past holding you hostage inside your own heart.

Leaving you unable to open a window

to catch a refreshing breeze to replace the putrid air

of a long captive past

How you hold onto memories that only cause you pain.

Twisting and turning your insides to leave

what appears to be an empty shell before me

I cannot help but to wonder of the thoughts that go through your mind

So I lightly knock on the door

Noone answers

Leaving me to just catch glimpses of light through a small crack

I, longing to be invited in, wait patiently on  your doorstep

I too grow cold

Impatients overcomes me and I want to walk away

but the flickers of light hold me mezmorized to where I stand

Closing my eyes I imagine hearing a beautiful song

waiting for the dance I fear will never come

Yet I still wait

Waiting in the shadows of your yesterdays
