Deliver me from Evil
I am but a simple man
I preach the word of God.
My congregation has no clue
That I live behind a façade.
My faith I place in the Lord
But I’m not worthy of his love.
I’ve succumbed to a mortal sin
I seek forgiveness from above.
Deliver me from Evil
Protect me from temptation.
The pleasure of the flesh
Is a constant frustration.
You entrust your children to me
Their innocence I take.
When the monster inside overpowers me
The wrong decisions, I make.
Blinded by lust
Overcome with remorse.
The struggle takes me to hell and back
I’m a victim of Satan’s force.
Deliver me from Evil
This curse, I can’t deny.
To break this vicious circle
I feel, I have to die!
