Far Gone

Where I left you standing, is where I left my heart
Too many mistakes to take back every word I ever said
So if there is time tonight, to forgive and make everything alright
I would take your hand and follow you until I couldn’t walk anymore
Because tonight I lay awake and dwell on the mistakes I made
But if you forgive me I would go back, I would go straight back to sleep

Am I too far gone?
To be remembered and forgiven
For the world seems divided
Torn between light and dark
And dreams and nightmares
Tell me, where is my heart?

I searched for reason
And found nothing more
Than the distant memories of you and me
Together in love but now we are nothing, we are nothing anymore

You know

I read a lot of poetry, and I write a lot of poetry and my gut reaction to this is that you don't need anything in this poem BUT the very first stanza. That last verse in the first stanza is great. I loose the empty feeling and the feeling of sorrow for the subject when I read the other two. It's not that they are not good, they are just not needed. Only my opinion. Great write.
