so if I may be so impertinent I will. It is perfect poetry in saying so much in as few words as possible. One (amongst many) requirements of poetry is "compression of meaning". Wouldn't you agree that this poem does that? I suspect you might revile against the use of the word "dolphin" as having become a symbol of lame new-agedness. But have you ever met one? Have you swum with one? Cliches become cliches because they are the best way of saying things, Shakespeare invented most of the ones in common use. And dolphins are the very best symbol of joy in life of a healthy planet. Don't get cynical before your time. Lenny's poem deserves to have been in the spotlight for longer than any poem I have seen on this site because he draws on honest archetypes, would you argue with a dolphin? cheers, Jess
