My Mama

She’s pretty, strong and oh, so smart.

I love my Mama with all my heart.

She’s sweet kind and sincere.

Always willing to lend an ear.

She comforted me when I was afraid.

When she came and chased my fears away.

She dried my tears and bandaged my knee.

My Mama means the world to me.

She was my comforter when I was sad.

She was my disciplinary when I was bad.

As a child, I was often over her knee.

Getting a spanking because she loved me.

When I married, she expressed her fears.

She stood beside me and held her tears.

Always cheering me on to be the best I can.

She said, "Don’t settle for just any man."

She was there when my children were born.

When my baby died, she helped me mourn.

I know she’ll be here for me ‘til the end.

I also know, she’s my friend.

She’s almost blind, but I know she sees.

My Mama means the world to me.
