21st Century Highly Culture

There’s always a so-sweet-super-splendid-girl
and there’s always a poem about this girl he’ll never date;
Or there’s always a cute-crush-cool-boy
and then she goes and write poem ‘bout her sad, sad fate.

And then someone else wants to get attention
So writes about self-pity-feelings-of-lack-of-affection,
or about ways of suicide, and that there’s no one on his side…

Not forgetting the ones who push people away
and then cry a poem about sad-loneliness
or ‘bout regrets cause they “didn’t meant to say!”

Me? I just write ‘bout selfish feelings,
under profound phases of frustration
But that wont label my poem of misinformation.

We use to write about the people and the dreams
We, poets, use to be the eyes of the world
But now we got half blind, or so it seams.

Where do I find the true inspiration?

I really relate to this, prototype

I often wonder about the motives of those who write selfish, self-indulgent verse (I won't call it poetry). Just want to share their pain around? So grandiosely egocentric they think they alone can feel? Where do I find true inspiration? The inspiration to keep writing mostly on this site. There are some truly honest, genuine poets here. The inspiration of what to write? Hell, that's easy, I get passionate about getting out of bed in the morning! (not necessarily in a positive way 8) See also dbaker's excellent forum on "My thoughts on Poetry" Dig your work. cheers, Jess
