Addict #2

I perceive the darkness
of your barren soul
it lurks on the dancefloor
hoping for a dance

I hold your
broken dreams
in my arms

and give you
first aid  from my heart,

your head is bowed
as if in contemplation;
are you wondering
is a price to pay

can love
come without a cost.

I photograph your tears
cascading down your cheeks
each one
representing
an abusive encounter.

I wonder
how you
can muster up the strength
to fight another day.

Maybe you’ve
become
accustomed to violence
and are now an addict.

definitely an improvement

just love "I hold your broken dreams in my arms and give you first aid from my heart," I think it might just be me, 'cos I have... um... studied a bit into all forms of addiction but the last line doesn't have much oomph. Might startle someone else. cheers, Jess
