Own Up

Looking to the past

I see how and why I ran so fast

It was hard to face the pain

But no longer could I live my life in vain

Some things were wrong

And few were right

Tonight I must own up

No one can take this fall

It was ment for me

So now I must leave

I can not make a brighter future

If I can’t face my dark past

All I can do

Is hope to make things right

But that will not be up to me

Not tonight

Forgiveness

Is so hard to find

But in my heart

I carry regret

So I ask of you

Let me carry this regret

So you can let go of the pain

I was the one

That should have been locked in chains

Instead of leaveing you

To take the blame

I ran away

Left it all behind

But now its time

I broke the hearts of many

This I know is true

Know in your heart

I never ment

To do that to you

Critiques

8) neither am I

Poets can be their own harshest critics but a certain measure of self-evaluation is necessary. I know you have seen some really stinky work on this site that the writer obviously thought was just grand. This is not by any means stinky, it flows well but the meaning is not clear and I can't help suspecting it might contain some un-healthy or un-necessary self recriminations. cheers, Jess
