Farewell Letter

We knew this love affair wouldnt last forever

and that in the end

we’d have to learn to say  goodbye

but it only seemed like yesterday you came to me

and on my knees I set you free.

Those restless nights I promise

always to treasure

feeding fuel to the fire

while trying to put out the flame.

But those days are gone now

although the memories we shared

i’ll always keep.

I needed more than what

a measured heart could give

so to you..

my farewell letter I send.

Good Work

The title fit the poem perfectly. The language was really good, heart felt. Rhyming well I'm not a good rhmyer so I can't say there. This reminds me of letting go of what you knew couldn't last. A good read from start to finish, the logic is seen. I really like this poem as I said before, its a way of letting go without haveing nothing but hate in the end. Good Work Brittany

This was nice

Short and to the point. The last stanza leaves me wanting something more powerful. The rest of the poem had a sad power to it but the last line in that last stanza just spins me wrong. Not to take away from the rest of the poem, it was very good. Just my thoughts. K. Mulroney

sincere

and reminds me of a situation I had in Boston about 10 years ago but the bottom kind of falls out at the end.

When I saw the title I

When I saw the title I thought it might mean a farewell letter you know?? Anyway I'm glad it wasn't that kind! It reminded me of how hard it was to let go sometimes of people we really cared about but we knew there was no future! Thanks for sharing! Julie
