Zulu

I dress in a polyester suit
I want you to look at me
and praise my image
it makes me look so very cute

I’m superior
to those
who wear not
the suit
for they simply
cannot be cute

I pride myself
upon my image
for that is
what makes my soul
it drives me to success
the corporate goal

so if you live
in a council house
beware
I’m going to bulldoze
it smaller than a fieldmouse

I want profit
and I want it now
I care not how I achieve my greed
you can whistle in the wind
if you have a need

I’m the man
in polyester suit
I’m married to profit and myself
I live to achieve greed and wealth

The poem is a good read, but

The poem is a good read, but from what I got from it, its just someone is just a little to self absorbed, with greed,. AFter reading it again yea thats it, but it is well worded. Damn I hate people like that... There is more to life then money and greed. It just may be too early for me to be reading and reviewing.

Thanks for your comments, very much appreciated. The poem is based on events in my hometown Liverpool, England; were the man on the street is being chased out of his home. Greed replaces heritage. The corporate goal becomes an obsession, an obsession. Lenny

these poems are

so hard to get really really well. I can't complain too much because I used to try and write like this too. The "socially conscious" crowd loved it when I'd read poems like this but honestly I didn't think they were very good at all. But that's mine, not yours. You know I love your writing, but I think you may have stretched a bit here in trying to tell your story and in the process gotten a bit cute. Again though, this might just be me as I seem to have a predilection towards disdain for these kind of poems, so take my critique with two grains of salt. Mark
