WW1: A Desert Heart

A mother’s heart

skips a beat

A son’s dishonesty,

true age wrong.

His war ship has

come in.

Will he board

will he won’t.

Lied to his mother

Lied to his friends.

Where is his father?

AT WAR!!!

simply and ghastly expressed

the deathly cycle. Powerful. A small suggestion. I feel the last line doesn't need caps and exclamation marks. I'd even consider understating it for effect at war cheers, Jess
