Coma

All she can do
is sleep away
the world
not noticing
the solar eclipses
passing by

On her bed
resting from
her weariness

she watches
her
violent childhood
painting unwanted
memories
on the hospital wall

her mind has become
an overgrown garden
suffering
from years
of parental neglect

all alone she lies
on her bed
like a proud Christ
she hides not from
her haunted and violent
childhood

she seeks not the skin
of the hospital bed
all she wants
is a pure sleep
without the cruel nightmares
who want to keep her company

Sparse, touching

This is a melodious trip into the existence of a woman in a compromised state of consciousness--and functions beautifully in terms of providing a tragic sense of life. Well done.
