so-called garden

it’s quite plain to me

the Garden so-called Eden

was ne'er a cared-for garden.

no, not at all.

indeed, it took the form

of primevous wilds:

of such as forests dark,

of mountains, valleys,

and of calling sweetly forest lark.

and of all the things

that in truth we chose

to lose so long ago.

we plant only,

in their stead, those terrible

things malignant that

uniquely grow/expand/pollute

and ought to die …

but never do.

Come to Think of It

Your icon does remind me of the hawks that terrorize my otherwise congenial neighborhood of little critters that range from mice to sparrows, finches, blackbirds, squirrels, baby woodchucks, etc. I'd add baby skunks, but they don't seem to be on Mr./Ms. Hawk's meal menu. Yours, Chuck
