the river, the river.

There’s a young
man
standing in the river
with a book
in his hand.
He says he a
poet
but the water flows
by him
unable to be obtained
by words
or otherwise.

simple and melancholic

I like the downward drift this poem has. You say a lot with a minimal amount of word play. Mark

yes!

that's what i really want to be able to do: adequately capture with few words. i'm glad i have taken a step in the right direction! it's why i admire bukowski. well, that and he's and arsehole and purely dosen't give a shit. not that i want to be an arsehole, but no caring would be nice.
