what you did for me

a one and a two,

you can buckle my shoe;

then, after this one thing

you did for me,

I’ll do this for you:

first I’ll pirouette,

recite the alphabet,

reserve a jumbo jet,

prep a crêpe suzette,

arrange my coverlet,

date a bachelorette,

then I’ll buckle your shoe—

and while I’m at it,

I’ll thank you

for buckling mine, too.
