Waste of Tears

I thought I loved you
I thought you cared
But when I needed you
You were never there.

Thought you were different
Thought you were true
But I guess I was wrong
About your love too.

Never thought you had the power
To break a heart
But the words you said
Has torn us apart.

And to think I loved you
For those past couple of years
And not once did I notice
That you were a waste of tears….

Joe's comments are spot on but...

The stanza "Never thought you had the power To break a heart But the words you said Has torn us apart." Really jarred with me. If you really love someone, really SEE them, you must know their power. Is this your admission of your failure in the relationship? Maybe this is not poetry feedback but BS Dr. Phil psycho jargon. If so, forgive me. By the way, grammatically "But the words you said HaVE torn us apart." cheers Jess

This was a nice quaint sum up of a bad relationship but I didn't feel anything. Your words didn't convey raw emotion or practical feelings one feels during a period such as this. Thanks for the read
