Alone

The woman sits alone in a fragrant field on a starlit night.
Her wondering eyes take in the vastness
Of the universe and all of its splendor.
The sliver of a moon only magnifies the infinite shimmering stars.
And she ponders on the meaning of it all.
She wonders if it is better to belong to the mass at any cost
Or to stay true to herself and live what she believes.
She chooses the latter.
After all:
It is only herself that she has to live with
And it is only herself that she will have to die with.
And finally:
It is only she herself that will enter into eternity
Alone.

Thank you!

Thanks for reading and commenting. Have a good rest of the week. I see from your photo that you must deal with a lot of human misery. I do not envy you. My wish for you is peace and happiness.

Beautiful

Staying true to yourself is sooo cliche but very necessary. Not only have you articulated this message consisely and beautifully but the alitteration, diction etc was on point. I love when authors use punctuation in their poetry, I never do because....Im a weirdo... but I loved the fact you did. Short, sweet and simple. "magnifies the infinite shimmering.." My Gosh I love this line. Thanks for the read -brit
