When Virgins No Longer Lie of Their Promiscuity

I sat there in a bar, a half empty glass in hand, tilted

Fourth one, actually

Swishing the liquor in my mouth

Like everything else in my body my tongue had grown numb

The taste of rum no longer makes me coil

Like my life,  the surprises have become anticipations and correct assumptions

I looked down at the coffee stain on my tie

Consequence of rushing out that morning but not out of eagerness

For duty, but to what?

A man who sat next to me, sighing in disbelief

At a sudden impulse, he stood up, raised his glass and said,

"To virgins who, someday will no longer lie of their promiscuity."

I wondered what he meant by that.

But when I thought about all the liars, the cheaters,

The scandals, the murderers who got off because good lawyers and convenient technicalities

Or innocent until proven guilty

While the powerless still suffer

I couldn't agree more,

Yeah, when virgins no longer lie of their promiscuity.

Talented

The poem was beautifula and I love the topic."To virgins who, someday will no longer lie of their promiscuity." This is my favorite line it has such a universal meaning...I'm in aww. This rhythm was raw and intense, almost like a rant or slam. Visual and real.(Im not the most coherent person but hopefully you understood what I am trying to convey) Thanks for the share peace
