we should catch the rain

All too soon old age, comes pounding at the door We can't go back and what is left, won't give us any more It is a single journey, can't return and go again We cannot right the wrongs, which echo in the end It seems a bit unfair, to learn along the way The knowledge needed then, comes some later day There are so many roads, we traveveled getting here The map was flawed, the compass wasn't clear Too many times we lost our way, not knowimg till the end But knowing that today, can't fix the wrong back then The many spears and arrows, we hurled along the way Though drenched in all our sorrow, belong to yesterday Could I return and stand your place, the arrows would be mine I'd spread my quilty arms and keep you safe behind Love comes all too soon in life, it falls on us like rain and in between the drops, the sting of hurt and pain We learn to use umbrellas; the rain rolls off the side then looking back we see the road, where all the rain has died We see too many arrows, that tell us where we've been The rain is gone and we don't know, if it will come again I can't go back to where it fell, life won't tell me how Lifes a single journey and all it gives is now Today the whisper lingers, your arrows hit the mark and all your sorrow can't remove an arrow to the heart So sad to find the answer which I needed then, today I should have traded arrows, for umbrellas every day Should have turned them to the rain, spread them all around because the way to use umbrellas, is to turn them upside down.

Sometimes

Sometimes I wish that I could go back to things.. To have just one more chance..

Thinking

I had to come back again and read over this poem once more.. maybe it is that i am in a new mindset this afternoon or maybe just more attention to it.. I am not sure.. Either way though.. Though I do you that you can not go back and change thing.. And feel that though many people do that this is not what out life should about.. It shod be about making the most out of everything in our lives.. for us as well as others.. However.. Though we can not go back and change the things in the past.. we can change now.. and by changing now we can change then and make up for i t... we just have to be willing to do this and do it with a open m ind, heart , and forgiveness for ourselves as well as others..

changing things

I wasn't able to post comments until today. I wanted to thank you for your comments. In response to your comments: Although making changes are necessary for growth and  certainly admirable this poem was a reflection on wrongs done in the past that I can not go back and change and the realization that some things have unfortunate consequences and impact the lives of others. Although regret is a reality it should not be our focus. On the other hand to not regret is to deny remorse. Part of self forgiveness is to acknowledge wrongs commited I think and If I could go again, I would do a better job. Again, thanks for the feedback.

Hey

That was a great reading. And a lovely re-reading. At the third time I read it i didn't know exactly what to review. What can I say? It's a freaking brilliant poem! I do think too that if i could I would make a better job in the past. ("We learn to use umbrellas; the rain rolls off the side" - Love it!)
