Aeternus
The world shifts and moves forward,
As trained expectation turns into empty desire.
A familiar face in the window,
A bark as you open the mailbox.
As thoughts shift from normalcy to longing,
And black maggots worm their way in, whispering their terrible lies.
A man’s foolishness is the things taken for granted,

The steps taken not thinking of what can be lost.
Focused so on his own life he forgets about the others,
The things held dear while life continues its ever forward march.
It’s dance into the unknown with you as it’s partner,
And a grip that won’t let go.
Do not let fade away from memory the pain,
The hurt that breaks you down.
As death leads to new life,
Loss leads to new strength.
Grit your teeth and battle through,
As heaven’s specters wait for you
