The rules collapse
I owe no answers, I carry no guilt.
The past is a phantom that tries to talk back,
It points at the shadows, the blood that was spilt,
But I am no longer a target to track.
I burned down the shame that was never quite mine,
And walked out of the smoke to the edge of the line.
I stand tall on the life I’ve built.
Every brick in this fortress was heavy to lay,
Paid for in sweat and a quiet defiance.
Let the critics and cynics have something to say,
I place no stock in their fragile alliance.
The ground underneath me is solid and stone,
A kingdom I claimed and survived on my own.
No one breaks me, no one bends my will.

They can bring all their noise, all their games, all their spite,
They can threaten the walls or try testing the door,
But they mistake my quiet for losing the fight,
Forgetting I’ve walked through much worse things before.
The pressure just sharpens the edge of the steel,
I am the only commander I feel.
I call the shots when the room is still.
The chaos out there cannot enter my head,
I sit with the silence and find my design.
I know what needs doing, I know what needs said,
The power to move is entirely mine.
No panic, no rushing, no desperate plea,
The eye of the storm belongs only to me.
Earn my trust and I’ve got your back.
For the few who stood by me when winter was cold,
My loyalty runs like a river of iron.
A bond that is fierce, that will never grow old,
A shield you can count on when facing the lion.
I am a sanctuary, steady and true,
If you bleed for me, then I’ll bleed for you.
But to the outsiders who think I am weak,
Who mistake my composure for room to advance,
There is a limit to turning the cheek,
And I do not give out a second-place chance.
Step over the boundary I worked to secure,
And find out exactly what I can endure.
Cross my line and the rules collapse.
