The Nutty Song
The Nutty Song
(To the tune of Stephen Foster’s Camptown Races)
Here we go gathering nuts today (chorus) hazel, hazel
We pick them up and we store them away (chorus) brown hazel nut
Then back to gathering nuts all day (chorus) hazel, hazel
Just gleaning in the ancient way (chorus) brown hazel nut
We take the nuts from here
And take the nuts from there
We crack them open, throw the shells away
Just eat them everywhere
Through the hedge-rows wander free (chorus) hazel, hazel
We're picking the nuts of the hazel tree (chorus) brown hazel nut
Fenced in by Somerset greenery (chorus) hazel, hazel
Contented shall we ever be (chorus) brown hazel nut
Read the rest of the poem Show less
We take the nuts from here
And take the nuts from there
We crack them open, throw the shells away
Just eat them everywhere
Now the hazel nut is very hard to crack (chorus) hazel, hazel
Its shell stands firm ‘gainst fierce attack (chorus) brown hazel nut
But what we glean can not go back (chorus) hazel, hazel
So at last becomes a simple snack (chorus) brown hazel nut
We take the nuts from here
And take the nuts from there
We crack them open, throw the shells away
Just eat them everywhere

"Everything is a pipe dream, then I'm living the dream. No point to feeling sorry for oneself but grab life and shake it by the throat. That is how the Happy Chappy remains so happy." -
