Trees whip wild
trees whip wild in white dry winds
electricity sparks death ghosts whirl in the cacophony darkness
smoke ballooning howls of red the forest bends broken at its knees
Black trunks fall roar through flames creatures run skin blazing screaming
dying
the agony of it

"Your poem was very good. I enjoyed the imagery and the message it contains. The diversity of objects thrown away highlights the consumerism and waste within the confines of a voracious bin. I liked the way you personifi…" -

"Hello, Jenifer, Very clever, and so true! It's mind-boggling thinking about the origin of words - the truly first words. A sense of magic in your choice of seaweed and mermaid string for your poem. Delightful! L" -

"Wonderful work, Ruby - I can see your work and craft! Love it when we (poets) spend time on a poem, coaxing (and sometimes bribing) the thing into a gorgeous form. you have done that." -

"Yes, it can be sad. I was a Nurse Educator working mostly in palliative care, but some of it is beautiful: meeting extraordinary people at the end of their lives, hearing the depth of their stories, holding them quietly." -

About Me
Well traveled, enchanted by life and living, had my fair share of interesting times. Words are the (my) way of existing well, dealing with grief, looking at the world, delighting in the unexpected. I have been caught up in academia for a while but am now back to writing for to make sense of my complicated times. I am deeply reflective and very sociable - almost in the same breath, which has made my sense of 'self in the world' difficult at times - wanting to be solitary and wanting to be with people. I was brought up in Wales UK but am now living in Australia, so my poetry is probably influenced by both the granite mountains and water, as well as hot sun, red rocks and bush fire.
Location: nsw, australia, AUS
Too many influences
probably. Always listening to new voices as well as remembering the old
