seeing right through every mask he would wear.
You told him he mattered, he was worth the fight,
words that once burned now felt strangely right.
He loved you in silence, afraid to confess,
certain you’d see the damage and leave like the rest.
You urged him to heal, to find love within,
but to him it felt like surrendering sin.
He couldn’t give what you needed most,
the steady heart he had never known.
So he steps back with a quiet ache,
wishing you find the love he couldn’t make.
Now having met, ’tis clear he shall see,
no other love could ever match what he received.
