Burning bridges
Bridges are linking
The left and the right
They’re spanning the void
There’s no need for flight
Where bridges are gone
The fighting ensues
People are dying
We all sing the blues
In order to stop
All hatred and fear
Stop burning bridges
Let far become near
But in human minds
There’s still the same shit
„Let’s burn that bridge
When we come to it“

on Acceleration from @Lavender
"Hello, Jack, I like this very much. My favorite lines: But somehow life's final bill Ends up being overpaid (overpayed / spelling?) I stumble a bit with the first line of the final stanza. Perhaps "If only we could hit…" -

"I would like to see the word worry in that line. How about: We do nothing but worry."? All in all, a good poem that just about anyone can sympathize with. ~ Fast paced and relevant! ~ Geezer. ." -

"It's a good one. The meter sets a perfect pace for the message. I'd like to see the word "worry" in S1,L4, but overall entertaining and relative. Cheers! Thomas" -

"forms of rhyme! At least to me. If I use it, it usually takes me a while to get the rhythm. Nice little poem to send a friend, who needs cheering up. The only line that seems just a tiny bit off is the last one, where t…" -

"At The End Of It All (for Steven)" by @Candlewitch
"The first half is filled with touching imagery of love, while the second part is more abstract, but they form two hemispheres of the same strong emotion. Great poem! Jack" - May 2022

"Shined On Me..." by @Geezer
"I don't have the background on the emulated author, but this poem calls for repeated reading. The sound of words and richness of emotions bring images to life, and that is what I like most about poetry." -

About Me
I am an architect, passionately in love with literature, films, photography and comics. (I must not forget my wife and son, as well :-)) Wrote my first short story at 44, my first poem at 45. At 46, I am still enchanted with this newly discovered passion for writing (after a lifetime of reading, of course). My favorite poets are Emily Dickinson and Edgar Allan Poe, depending on the mood, and some Serbian poets like Milos Crnjanski, Vasko Popa, Miroslav Antic and Djordje Balasevic.
In my spare time I mostly read, write short stories (and lately poems), translate and make short films.
