You Mattered

“I’m not ready to be okay yet”
Because being okay
Feels like forgetting
Like betrayal
Like I never loved you

It feels like grief is the only language
Where I can still say your name
Without asking me
To lighten the weight

I want to cry
When I hear your song…

It’s proof that you mattered.

Piggy

She claws herself up from the rout
where filthy beasts made her lay

She dares to rise, dares to cry out
once animals had their way

And from deep down, a forceful call
bearing justice on her day

But one fat hog, who denies all
chose these vulgar words to say,

"Quiet, Piggy."

C'est la vie

C'est la vie
We will not live forever
We will die
Someday here on earth
We still have some life
To live ahead of us
Please don't sleep in
During the mornings
Because you will be
Wasting a day away
Ce la vie
It is God
That has made
The four seasons for
We do live in
He made
Summer, Winter, Fall, and Spring
Now we are having
The last days of Summer
We are not happy
That the summer is ending so fast
The birds went south already for
The winter

Reminiscence by: eddy styx

This perfumed night
runs rampant with
a ponderous nostalgia.
I feel the naked pull
of ghostly hands, arms
of an era long past.
Floating on a memory
vivid and compelling,
my feet retracing
stone steps where
lichen has spread
ever softly, silencing,
absorbing furtive footfalls
where time blends with
past, present and future.
in my fevered mind
I see moonlight's
silver sliver,
a feather-touch
on pearly delicate skin.
I smell the sultriness

Museum of Choices

High ceilings hold chandeliers
Whose soft lighting fills the foyer.
A sign read
“One way in, your way out”

The first hallway was lined with art
And shadowboxed objects.

The scent of old paper
And the echoing of whispered admiration
Fill the atmosphere
With a sense of reverence.

The first of many pieces
Is a single sheet of paper
Behind fingerprinted glass.
A simple poem—
One that I read over and over,
Until the tears in my eyes fell.

Maybe you also got a check, yes mate?

Withhold the natural predilection
to get emotionally buoyed aloft!

A counterfeit check got issued to me
from Keller Manufacturing, Incorporated,
Cremation Equipment Manufacturing and Service
located at 4442 Holden Road
Lakeland, Florida 33811
whereat Mid Florida Credit Union, The Payer
also located in the sunshine state
offering me tantalizingly
bonafide looking check,
(which in name only)
to the mouth watering tidy sum
of sixty five hundred dollars.
