A Memory Without Silence

Rewriting Memory

She used to have this beautiful long jet-black hair
It’s one of my earliest childhood memories
She used to comb it right in front of the mirror
And then she’d wear other little accessories

There was one time when she didn’t say goodbye
She later confessed she didn’t want to hurt me
But at five I didn’t understand the drama
When my momma had to go to another country

Everything I love about you

Everything I love about you
Your smile
So warm
And so contagious
I also appreciate
Having you as my friend
You never let me down once
And also I never let you down
Once
Yes we are both very religious
Since childhood to adult hood
Yes we are going to die as a
Christian
The day my Father
Call us to die
We will be ready to die
Father we are not planning to die
Young
We still want to live
Here on earth as long as we can
We are waiting now
For the day to end

Two Roads Diverged

Beneath the sky, where paths entwined,
I stood a soul, of fate's design,
Two roads diverged, both veiled in mist,
Each whispered dreams I might resist.

One paved with gold, a gleaming hue,
Promised ease, a clear bright view.
The other wild, with thorns and stone,
A call to wander, yet walk alone.

Winds that howled, trees that swayed,
Urged me forth, yet bid me stay.
For every step, a tale untold,
A leap of faith, a heart grown bold.

Dreams Deferred

Last night’s dream
Was like false advertising
A photoshopped fantasy of a body
Bought for desire
Enticing like a pleasure beach,
Promising shiny entertainment.

Recurring dreams on an in-flight film
Playing backwards all night
Dreams on celluloid
With subtitles and a story
Foreign voices, unknown tongues
Humming words like a dark murmur

A brain fog of disappearing images
Evaporating by morning.
All blurred and bleary
Like an impressionist’s vision of hazy memories,
Blotted out by sunlight.

Just can’t face the day

Morning light through the curtains is a jagged blade,
cutting through the safety of the sanctuary I’ve made.
The phone is a silent stone, glowing next to my bed,
I’m curled inside the blanket’s, its the world I dread.
Just a cycle of the moon and tide,
with nowhere left for me to hide.

Tomorrow’s coming ‘round again,
round it goes, it never ends.
I see the same old broken friends,
I just can’t face this day again.

FASCINISTIC EXPOSISTIC DOUSCHOUS

it's a putinesque country today
that will take what it wants by the fray
where you bend to the ass
of the decadent class
all hail to the USSA!

The Version Where I Arrived Sooner

Rewriting Memory

Some three decades later, it haunts me in some way
I can still see the scene and scenario clear as day
Missed chances can taunt us in that constant replay
But even then, I knew the exact words to say

Yet now, in the version where I arrived sooner
Our talk would have had a little more depth
Even though I was young with that sense of humor
There was a passion in me that had quite the breadth

The Golden Malady

A hiss of fuse in braided hair,
like funeral veils around his face.
Within his eyes, a lustful glare,
the devil’s king in silk and lace.

He stands atop the cankered plank,
a shadow carved in salt and gloom.
While every man of lower rank,
must silent march toward his doom.

The hull creaks low like splintered bone,
across the swell of velvet ink.
To reach the isle of jagged stone,
where ghosts of ships and sailors sink.
