Intimate Strangers

The poet still writes, the singer still sings
of love, romance and passionate things.
Yet intimate strangers you are today
standing close but seeming far away.
No longer lovers, just husband and wife
but it’s not too late to change your life.

Togetherness can be a lonely place
if it’s just memories you embrace.
Just you two, the kids have grown
flown the nest for loves of their own.
Seems you’ve forgotten how to be
two hearts living in harmony.

knowledge is powaar

Pareto’s law: this is
20 percent read me: 80 percent don't
And if 80 percent read me:only 20 percent say well done
The remaining remain mum
This is the universal law ....emanated from a simple observation
Just google it you will know
Have knowledge and fun
I know 80 percent won't....

Where is the Road Less Traveled?

Time was...

dusty roads and drafty walls
horses, buggies and princess balls
fires lit the pages in books
while candied yams and homemade jams
neatly lined the kitchen nooks
meals were a necessity,
but not always a certainty
and the front porch?
Well, it was for family

Poems for a Contest

This is new poems covering the dates 5th, 6th and 7th April

Poem for a Contest

Write a poem for a contest, to share,
a new one that’s short but complete.
Put yourself on display, if you dare,
with your heart overflowing, replete.

Now the pump is beat beating so fast,
and the breathlessness won’t be controled,
having reached it’s conclusion at last,
what I’ve written is trully whole souled

Dawning

The Royal Rush [Limerick]

The Queen had a touch of Flu
the King fed her a spicy stew
she turned bloody red
jumped out of her bed
then rushed to the palatial loo

I SNAG A TRUTH OUT OF THE DUSTBIN OF HISTORY

The Truth Squad spies me at the dumpster
and sends a contingent of Keystone Kops
hopping mad at what I made of the reality
I saw beneath the truths of contemporary
conventional wisdom (?)
Soon the joint was jumping as we join into
trying to awaken the Conscious Ewe/You
who had fallen for wasteful pleasures sure
to put one under and at the bottom of the
money monkey pile...
The comical animals, now at the bottom
of the barrel, barely alert except for the
Light Bear who was the bearer of the new

From A Mother's Diary

She'd hush the howling
moon and the exploded
cocoons for the sake
of her sick toddler;

she hummed lullabies,
sometimes for long hours
for the baby to sleep,

now she too needs a rest.

Yeah! She'd finally
get a few minutes
before the sick baby's
up again.

Dragging her legs
to the living room
she let her dreams drown
in the brown leather couch.

Is it?

Pain in then
All struggles to an end
Happy we should be for you
But how?

Life seems to fall
Making us feel rejection
You left
Maybe without goodbye
Blame for you we cant
But is it this?

You will no longer laugh
No more make jokes
Never going to smile
Tears we are in
You won't rip them off
How is it so bad?

We all weep for you
A better they say you at
But what about us?

Autumn builds a changeling.

The soft scattering of burnt flurries,
a bowling ball of umber sparks
that run out of the drying copse

I leave the disease of the city
for a sanctuary not made for me,
by stone built, with secreted skill

Unobserved, slow, with knowledge
this tower, this bell, I lie beneath and smell
the elders cutting leaves and flowers

For some spray, not meant for me,
but decorating another’s passing
at the brassy end, where they believe

Her Majesty's Fall (limerick)

The Queen said "I'm going to the mall"
the King said "darling go have a ball"
when she returned late night
he couldn't watch her plight
she was groggy and about to fall
