A Girl Named Indigo

They say she descended after one summer storm
Like a pretty reverie arched right out of the blue
With eyes so expressive as if they whispered secrets
That men were entranced by that delightful hue

Some say she emerged from the sea late after dusk
A balance of dark and light that nature surely dyes
Designed and crafted by the hand of a divine being
Because the ocean depths were captured in her eyes

Angels and Vampires...

I've heard Dr. Death a'knocking,
Knocking at my door
Go away, I'm going to say
Don't come back no more

Angels in the night
Vampires in the day
Graceful Shaq, got my back
Smiles left along the way

Mr. Beepy from long ago
Has made a reappearance
I think I'll get him this time
There'll be no interference

Best thing to do is listen
Before he starts to scream
I've pushed him out the window
Many times, in dreams

Intuition abandon me

Intuition abandon me
Finally
Today
But before
I had the intuition that
I never did enough for my Father
That was very bad
I never had prayed enough
Every night for my Father
Because I was always tired
So I just went straight to bed
To sleep
Suddenly now I started to feel guilty
And I know that is not a good thing
I know that I have to change
And make some time
For me to pray for my Father

Seven Sisters

In Idaho are seven sisters
Their beauty a sight to see,
If you ever pass their way
Lost in wonder you will be.

These lovely sisters beckon
Welcoming all who come their way,
To know them is to fall in love
While with your heart they'll play.

They will lure you with wonder
They will tease you with their worth,
There are few to match their equal
At any other place upon our earth.

Road to Grandma’s

Our family readies for a blanket adventure
Scarves, coats, and the dog wiggling his tail,
A little drizzle will not frazzle our mood,
This trek has become our road trip ritual.

The only time when mom lets her lists go,
Cuts the malarky and abandons the rules.
Forgets the bills and the rent that’s due,
Turns up her favorite jazz tunes, and we roll.

The Woman Within

How dare you condemn a mother
For taking time for herself?
How do you expect her to give her all,
With a shattered mental health?

So let her have her night out,
Let her care for herself too.
Support her instead of guilt her—
She's doing what she needs to do.

She's already feeling guilty,
For daring to put herself first.
So used to being everything for everyone,
You don’t see how much it hurts.

R.I.P. to the Nations!

An atomic age
had dawned on us.
A burst of bright energy
fanned through the night sky.

No one
was spared,
we all ran
for cover.

Down to our basemets
and shelters.
Most of those left died
with the bites of black flies.

The utter destruction
had left us all paralyzed.
We didn't have time to think.
Our leaders had lied.

Opulence greed,
with morals degraded.
Lead to our downfall
We'd regret this day.
