Food for Moths
I have a lot of food for moths.
Let me rephrase:
I own a lot of clothes.
That still wasn’t quite right,
but it was close.
Let me re-rephrase:
I see an outfit
and picture a version of me
that maybe I could be.
The kind of girl who frequents
sordid parties,
wearing only a fur coat—
nothing on underneath.
The room would talk,
“Oh my, I wonder if they’re real?”
So I’d drop my coat
and reveal—
“Why, darling, the fur’s faux, of course.”
I buy fantasies
crafted from fabric and thread
and abandon them in a cupboard,
then move on to the next.
To summarise:
I keep the moths well fed.
