Eyes Can't Hide

Baby, I’d like to
fall under your spell.
I’ve got to admit, you’re
something special—Princess, Queen, Mother Earth.

Don’t go changing
to try and please.
But don’t listen to me, child—
I’m just the messenger.

All the colors in the rainbow,
and the Most High chose Mecca.
But we can’t forget about café con leche.

Baby, can you follow the rhythm?
Shit’s twisted.

Gentle warrior—the misconceptions they laid on you, honey—
that’s not glamour, that’s Hollywood fantasy.

But don’t listen to me, child—
I’m just the messenger.

Morning comes honest,
and your eyes don’t hide from it.
So what is it about the night
that makes you look away?

Baby, you charm me—
the way you are, no cover-up.

Then again—don’t take my word.
Fuck what they call right—I’m on your line.

Listen, love, I’m into you now—
not the version you put on.

But maybe I’m just talking to the wind.
