I am Sonia Muhimpundu Kayishema, a Canadian bilingual poet and author of Bouquets and Blusters: Poetry on the Tides of Life and Bouquets (Bourrasques : Poésie sur les marées de la vie).

I hold a bachelor’s degree in Law and Sociology and a master’s degree in International Studies.

For the past twenty years, my work has been rooted in community, human connection, and supporting people from diverse backgrounds through local and international organizations.

Writing has always been one of the ways I make sense of the world. I believe words are bridges: between people, cultures, memories, wounds, and hope. Through poetry, I explore identity, migration, belonging, resilience, and the quiet strength we carry through life’s many tides.
