The Red Light
Won't someone please
Extinguish that
Infernal demon eye;
Blinking, dumb, and relentless?
It causes me to burn.
Oh, sister,
You are covered in blood.
Though you do not show any wounds.
Please get up,
I fear you for dead
Almost as much as I fear you.
The eye blinks again,
-Blind and dumb-
A half-remembered rhythm,
Read the rest of the poem Show less
An SOS,
Poorly-timed,
As obsolete devices go.
How sad when your only purpose
Is to be too little, too late.
They are long gone, dear;
The village you were meant to warn
Left, never to return.
A shame no one thought to tell you.
You may rest, now.
Please.
Your eye sets Us on edge.
On fire.
Some have grown used to you.
Some no longer know you're there.
Some no longer know.
It's all irrelevant.
I used to fear you.
Mostly by association.
But this time I know
You were never my true enemy.
I forgive you, I guess.
Keep your vigil
If it keeps you sane.
I'll of course be
In the other room.

"Loved this poem. Your use of symbolism and metaphor is perfection, and I am envious of your talent. Well done, Ruby x" -

"I really like this. I like how you use thorns to describe how fragile we are and how we bleed our emotions. My only suggestion would be to change the word "the" to "its" in the line "Burst from the bramble infantry." I…" -
