Cape Porcupine
The sun over Cape Porcupine on this warm summer’s eve,
Shows no hint of sadness, though she knows it's time to leave.
Hours have turned to minutes and now she's fading fast,
She looks forward to the future without pining for the past.
A brilliant t display of colour now lights up the sky,
One last parting gift as she finally says goodbye.
I witness her decention from just across the bay,
And all of us who love her are wishing she could stay.
Our world revolves around her, she’s always been our guide,
I believe she’s waiting for us, somewhere on the other side.
She's been around forever, no need for grief or sorrow,
I'll see her once again when tonight becomes tomorrow.
Now a full moon takes her place and it tries to fill the void,
I appreciate its efforts, but somehow I feel annoyed.

It hangs like an amateur where a masterpiece once hung,
Many others find it beautiful so I’ll try to bite my tongue.
It serves a useful purpose, that cannot be denied,
It has inspired many poets and it regulates the tide.
And while the sun no longer shines, I still can feel her heat,
That will be my consolation until once again we meet.

About the author
I started writing poetry as a young teenager with a vivid imagination. They weren’t very sophisticated but they were a bit funny. Many of those early poems have disappeared over the years but I began cataloging the more recent ones. I’ve also written some scripts for our local theatre group and a couple of short stories. I’ve even tried my hand at songwriting but unfortunately I’m no musician. Every poem you’ll find here was inspired by something. It may have been an observation, a news story, a song or a personal experience. I hope you enjoy reading them…Stevo
