You
Today I felt the church bell ring
as I walked along the creek,
and the daylilies were nearly singing -
I swear they were.
The willow trees reached out to each other,
and the park bench smiled at me,
while the blue in the sky pulsated around the sun -
something like…joy.
I thought of you.
And I think of you.

On nostalgia
Boy, you sure write nostalgia so well! It really captures that small town feel, for such a short poem. That’s not an easy feat. I’m struggling to think of anything to change right now. Maybe a smoother transition between the landscape and the personal? Or would that ruin the theme? Either way, I really liked this poem.

Hello, and thank you!
I will give some thought to that transition - definitely want it to be felt and understood.
Thank you for reading and commenting!

Nice use of anthropomorphism…
Nice use of anthropomorphism and sentience. The understated ending is a strength.

Hello, W.B.,
Truly the feelings I observed as I was walking and thinking of someone special - sometimes poems write themselves.
Thank you so much for reading!
