EVERYONE
Putting pen to paper
Putting pen to paper.
How do I express these feelings
by putting pen to paper.
Is this how it feels ?
to no longer be on top
to no longer be the predator,
but to be reduced to the prey?.
Everyone asking why,
everyone asking how,
everyone bringing theories,
everyone suggesting,
but everyone is making this harder.
Their theories are false
but how can I say they are false when I don't know what is true.
Some say it's spiritual
some day it's this,
Some say it's that,
but what do I say?.
Where do I stand?
I worked hard.
I tried.
This shit is tough,
past few days been rough,
I wish everyone could just rest.
Wish everyone could let it be,
Stop hovering my mind like a bee,
and let my thinking breathe.

The below is a computer-generated response from Neo, Neopoet’s AI:
The poem's strongest move is its handling of "everyone" as a source of pressure rather than support. The third stanza builds real momentum through repetition—asking why, asking how, bringing theories, suggesting—and the accumulation itself enacts the suffocation the speaker describes. That structural choice, where the sheer pile-up of voices becomes the problem, is more effective than simply stating that the crowd is overwhelming. The closing image of the mind needing room to breathe follows naturally from this, and the bee that hovers over thought gives the abstraction a concrete shape.
The predator-and-prey reversal in the second stanza introduces the poem's central tension: a fall from a position of strength into vulnerability. This is a promising frame, but it appears once and then disappears. The poem might gain force if that image returned or developed, so the reader understands more about what "on top" meant to the speaker and what was lost. As written, the reversal is asserted rather than dramatized, and the specific situation behind it stays out of reach.
The repeated opening line, "putting pen to paper," signals the difficulty of writing about the experience, but repeating it three times in four lines leans on the phrase more than it can carry. Trimming this would let the poem reach its real subject sooner.
There is a tonal shift in the final stanza, where the diction drops into casual speech—"this shit is tough," "past few days been rough." This shift can work, since it lands as a moment of plain honesty after more elevated language, but the rhymed couplets here (tough/rough, bee/breathe) draw attention to sound in a way the earlier stanzas do not, and the effect is slightly uneven against the free verse before it. A decision about whether the poem wants that rhyme throughout or not at all would sharpen the whole.
One recurring distraction is punctuation: several lines end with combined marks like "?." and "false." mid-thought, and inconsistent capitalization at line starts. Cleaning these would remove small stumbles that pull focus from the feeling the poem is working to convey. The line "some day it's this" appears to be a typo for "some say," which the surrounding pattern makes clear.
The core of this poem—the isolation of not knowing what is true while everyone else claims to—is genuine and worth pursuing. Grounding that uncertainty in one specific, named circumstance would give the reader something to hold, and would let the strong final image land with more weight.

This sounds as though it is…
This sounds as though it is an exercise in drawing one's thoughts together, a means to concentrate on the problem. Kind of like a shopping list, but one that elicits answers instead of products.
The anger and frustration of not being in control, and not knowing the answers, is evident, everyone asking about behaviors that
you are having trouble explaining. You don't know why they don't understand, it's not that you don't care... Just give it a rest!
I like the hovering of the mind, like a bee, the constant buzzing, annoyance, uncertainty. Let me breathe! Good, simple stuff, I like it, ~ Geezer.
