Matthew, Mary, Mark and Me
Matthew, Mary, Mark and me
got a condo down in Galilee
with a view that overlooks the sea
and for the next two weeks that’s where we’ll be!
We plan to have a real good time,
they’ll bring water, I’ll make wine
and harder stuff , I’ll do that too!
(Can’t help it, man, it’s what I do!)
We invited other friends to come
but they made excuses, every one.
Peter had to work, he said,
and Luke made other plans instead.
Everyone else was “yadda yadda”
like they didn’t even want to bother.
Some of them whined about the cost -
too bad for them, no great loss!
I said I’d make the dinner dishes -
I plan to make something delicious!
I brought some loaves and brought some fishes
to make a tasty casserole.
with loaves and fish and guacamol.
It only makes a little bowl
but you can eat and eat until you’re full.
It’ll last us for the fourteen days
and even longer if we stay!
Whatever’s left, we’ll split and share -
We’ll divide it up in Tupperware!
The four of us decided each
to go and hang out at the beach.
We packed some food before we left
and sunscreen with high SPF.
An umbrella, too. for everyone
to get protection from the sun.
We wouldn’t want to spoil our fun
and get all red and overdone!
Matthew took a walk and went
to find a boat for us to rent.
He said “they‘ve got one left but it’s kinda small,
It probably won’t fit us all.”
We talked and talked but couldn’t decide
which three of us would take a ride
so we got a coin and all of us tossed
Unfortunately for me, I lost.
I sat beneath the beach umbrella
watching Mary and the other fellas
having fun out on the sea!
Then I heard them yell at me -
“Hey! We didn’t bring the SPF!”
(It was in the beach bag when they left)
So I stopped the thing that I was doing
and brought the beach bag over to ‘em!
They weren’t prepared for such a shocker,
watching me walk across the water
but I got there and gave Mark the tote
then the four of us squeezed into the boat.
They said “Dude, that was amazing and astounding!
How do you do that without drowning?”
I said “It’s easy guys, there’s nothing to it.
If you know where the rocks are, anyone can do it!
The rest of our time was much the same,
Food and frolic, fun and games.
We never had a day of rain.
I think that we’ll come back again.
Mathew, Mark and Mary plan
To show off their vacation tans!
I’ll post some pics soon as I can -
Check ‘em out on Instagram!

Summer break...
I will be surprised if you have many comments on this one, but I will stick my neck out and say that I had a good laugh at the narrative. I enjoyed the gentle jocularity at the thought of Mary, Matthew and Mark as high-school graduates taking a vacation in Galilee, and nowhere was it disrespectful.
You could pull the meter together with better formatting, and punctuation, but I guess is a matter of opinion.
Nice job, ~ Geezer.
