The Man Who Cheated Death
What kind of person would you become when fate conspires to give you immortality. Searching for the true meaning of life through the hardships, and joys of eight centuries of human civilization, Cord Sterling finds himself in this incredible situation. He had saved the life of an alchemist who gave his family a potion to ward off disease. Before taking it he became deathly ill and his wife unknowingly gave him almost half the potion.
Years later, he discovered he wasn’t aging. His neighbors, the Lord of the land and the local priest accused him of being a sorcerer consorting with Satan. He was forced to watch his wife and child hanged before he was burned at the stake. Somehow, he survived spending several months in the depths of madness. He eventually recovered to plot and carry out his revenge on all involved in his family’s murder. Follow him through the centuries as he survives the plague while losing another family and the wars between the differing factions of the Church.
He comes to America only to become embroiled in the Revolutionary War and the founding of America. In the old west He marries again and gets involved in the fight for independence in Texas. After his wife dies of old age, he becomes a Texas Ranger and later a Bounty Hunter. Now, in modern day Texas, he finds love once again with a half-breed Comanche woman and reconnects with his humanity. Together, they uncover a plot that leads to the death and resurection of his latest love and the split up of the United States under a tyrannical government. Together, the two of them become a legend among those trying to escape the tyranny the United States has become.
