MORNING RITUAL (sticking my toe back in)
Another summer early morning
observed from my rear deck
brown rabbits leaving trails in dewy grass
Bob White repeating his name
ceaselessly
A distant convocation of crows
far off black specks .... swirling
and
diving
so carefully out of reach
of harrassed lone owl
Eyes move to misty surfaced pond
where nesting Canadians glide effortlessly
past minnows skipping on surface membrane
unwilling bass buffet
Furnace finally blasts over Eastern hills
burning away high cirrus clouds
turning sky unbroken blue
starting the Farenheit climb
sweat forming on brow
Smell of coffee
eggs frying
toast toasting
time for breakfast
and another day's work
observed from my rear deck
brown rabbits leaving trails in dewy grass
Bob White repeating his name
ceaselessly
A distant convocation of crows
far off black specks .... swirling
and
diving
so carefully out of reach
of harrassed lone owl
Eyes move to misty surfaced pond
where nesting Canadians glide effortlessly
past minnows skipping on surface membrane
unwilling bass buffet
Furnace finally blasts over Eastern hills
burning away high cirrus clouds
turning sky unbroken blue
starting the Farenheit climb
sweat forming on brow
Smell of coffee
eggs frying
toast toasting
time for breakfast
and another day's work
