critiques
Please don’t get me wrong this community is a wonderful self-learning opportunity – simply reading others’ works is an honour in growth.
However, I joined this site in the hope that my poetry would receive critique in assisting my development as a poet, and although I have had a lot of great feedback, I notice that my poems are commented on by a few who have joined my buddy list, but read by many more who don’t leave a comment.
I understand this as I often leave a poem without leaving a comment, and, since I discovered I could, I often even hit the nominated button without leaving a comment (and, interestingly I think, I have come across a number of poems in the lonely poems section that have been nominated but not commented on.)
Even as I do this I feel guilty, as I joined this site for feedback and here I am not really giving any to a poem I mayhaps adore.
Some reasons – there are many more, I’m too tired to do a brain-storm right now
· I’m not on terms with the poet and am afraid perhaps I may tread on sensitive toes
· I have nothing to say about the poem except it moved me and many others have already said it
· I don’t understand this and it is not my scene
· Any other
I would be interested in how others feel. Can I suggest something like perhaps .... maybe .... boxes ..or something – any ideas - to tick for those who do not feel like leaving a comment, but may like to tell the poet whether the poem interested them, baffled them, etc.? – some way to give feedback as to whether the poem is commercial (I know, horrible word.... hope you understand what I’m trying to say)
Would love to hear anyone's thoughts
