BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH
Yesterday morning I happened upon a radio show where a guest had called in. For over 40 minutes this guy talked.
He talked while other people where talking.
He asked questions and talked during the answers.
He talked about how smart he was.
He talked about how dumb everyone else was.
He talked and talked and talked and talked and then complained he was not allowed to finish his thought.
I've run into these types of people before, people who believe the more words they use the more important they are and if they talk long enough you will understand that they are the smartest person in the room.
I don't get along very well with these people.
In my blogs I babble along on whatever strikes my fancy. In my personal interactions, I prefer a conversation where people exchange thoughts, make points, and share the time equally. When I run across those who think more words equal a better argument, I walk away, making whatever or no excuse and if I am challenged on it I bluntly state I know exactly what they are saying, can summarize it in 50 words or less, and disagree.
And this does not end well. Because the only thing worse than being a smart-ass is being right.
But this is why I use bullet points to take notes in a meeting, why I can, in less than a minute, summarize a 60 minute meeting. I don't actually enjoy talking just to hear myself talk and I never am talking to convince people to adopt my opinion.
I am talking or writing to explain my opinion and why I hold it. I expect others to do the same. When we are all doing this, we can disagree without feeling the need to brand people as inferior because a disagreement need not be a statement of immorality directed at another person.
So, that's my stance, that's why I take the stance I do, and that's the result I desire to accomplish.
Take it how you will.
