Good Morning NEOPOET
Unlike those who consider that every one live DOWN to their expectations and find joy & pleasure in being right, I
look forward to folks living UP to my expectations and understand why it isn’t so.
And for those who insist that my argument has been on having NO rules. Well, it would seem you belong to the former
group. My whole premise has been in creating a community where one learns self-moderation so punishment a la
banishment needs not to be handed out with regularity, like some ex-lax for verbal diarrhea. The only way that will
happen is when folks are taught how to effectively communicate with someone on the seeming *opposite* end of the
issues that cause the disturbance in the first place. And the mantra: “GO TELL IT TO THE AEC” is not the first and
last thing that comes to everyone’s mind.
And that would mean that folks learn to handle criticism, judgment, *negative* feed-back, and any one of the hundreds of
interactions we as human beings and as poets/writers need to learn to deal with in any situation, just to be the best we
can be as individuals as well as individuals creating a nurturing writer’s workshop atmosphere. Whether we send a poem
or a manuscript out to be published, chances are we’ll be meeting some sort of criticsm, rejection. Wouldn’t it be nice to
know we know how to handle that because Neopoet has provided a *community atmosphere* in which the goal is honest,
level-headed communication without resorting to censorship, without being brainwashed by *go tell mum and dad AEC, and
they’ll *fix it*.
I really wonder how the ones who make the complaint and now know their detractor is gone, feels. Really. Does it
really *feel good* to have caused another’s expulsion so you can feel *safe* and *vindicated*?
There are at least two sides to any issue, and that has been my *agenda* so to speak, to bring this side out into the open.
We already are quite familiar with the other side that seems to be a mindset working: Well, you knew the guidelines, agreed
to them by default, and now that you broke them what happens to you afterwards has no basis, authenticity for scrutiny.
Peace in the Hood.
